Learn Coding
with Scratch: Level 2
A Deeper Understanding of Scratch through Interactive Games and Animations
The level-2 course is designed for students with a basic understanding of Scratch. In eight weeks, they will get exposure or more advanced coding concepts and build upon the foundational skills essential for early success as junior programmers. Besides, the course will introduce kids to new programming elements, enhance their problem-solving abilities, and enable them to build more complex projects.
Why Continue with Scratch?
Continuing with Scratch allows students to leverage their existing platform knowledge while challenging themselves with new programming concepts. Scratch remains an excellent tool for developing logical thinking and creativity in a fun, engaging way.
Additional Coding Concepts
Beyond the core programming concepts, kids will also gain exposure to fundamental coding principles, such as event-driven programming, conditional statements, debugging, data manipulation, and scene management.
Are there any prerequisites?
Completing the “Coding with Scratch Level 1” course or equivalent basic Scratch programming experience is required. In addition, students should be familiar with the Scratch interface, sprite manipulation, coordinates, basic variables, and operators.
What Will Your Child Learn?
Kids will learn to use broadcast messages, advanced conditional statements, and data collection manipulation with variables and lists. They will also learn how to create custom blocks, explore Boolean logic, and the art of cloning sprites.
What is the Course Format?
Our course consists of eight weekly online sessions, each lasting about one hour. Session recordings are also available for supplementary learning. At the end of this course, the child’s progress will be assessed before parents, and a certificate of completion will be awarded along with the assessment report.
Explore Our Projects
Here’s a glimpse of the projects students will work on during this course.
Boat Race
Students will design and program a boat racing game with mouse-controlled navigation, incorporating a timer and obstacles for complexity, using event handlers, collision detection, and variables to enhance gameplay and track performance.
Maze Game
Navigate complex mazes using advanced sprite control, custom blocks, and decision-making logic. Learn how to create puzzles that challenge the player to think critically.
Cross the River
In this project, players must safely take a sprite across a river. This game introduces students to managing multiple sprites and coordinating their interactions using broadcasts and cloning.
On Targets
Create a game where players must hit targets with precision. Use broadcasts to trigger events when a target is hit and Boolean logic to determine success.
